Bartlett NH SNOW

Bartlett New Hampshire in the White Mountains on the East side of Crawford Notch and Mt Washington received another 8 inches of snow on the 26-27 January winter storm.  We did a a wintry mix at the end but not enough to affect the 8 inches plus the foot that was under that.  The skiing conditions for Down hill and cross country right now are awesome.  Especially the the local Bartlett NH venues.  Attitash Bear Peak Mountain is located in Bartlett New Hampshire just 2 miles West of the Bartlett Inn & Cottages New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast and Bear Notch Cross Country Ski Network is accessable out the Bartlett Inn’s back door!  Bartlett Inn is jsut 12 miles West of North Conway NH and we have top snow conditions right now.  I know this may seem hard to imagine since I took a ride south to Manchester, New Hampshire this weekend and could not believe they had no snow!  I wanted to let all our Southern New England Firends know ….Yes Virginia,  There is Great Snow and Skiing in Bartlett New Hampshire!! The whole family went out for the first cross country ski day of the season on Saturday, 14 January, 2012.  The new snow in Bartlett and the chilly temps made for fantastic grooming and skiing!  Packed powder and no ice!   Bear Notch Ski touring Center is dog friendly and has 70 kilometers to ski.  We brought our cockapoo and met other very friendly dogs and skiers on the trails!  The Cockapoo, Noodles, even pulled one of the kids for ski jouring fun! The Waterfalls were part frozen and some of the brooks were still flowing – spectacular views. Fir Balsam Christmas Tree Cut your own Tree Bartlett Inn NH

That is correct.  You can cut your own Christmas Tree for $5 bucks in the White Mountain National Forest  of New Hampshire!  The Bartlett Inn has a tradition of cutting our own Christmas Tree each holiday season.  Usually we find a nice tree on our own property but this year we just could not find one that had a good shape so Innkeeper Nick and his family went to the Ranger Station on the Kancamagus Highway in Conway, NH and paid just $5 to cut our own tree.  This is a great deal on Christmas trees that can cost from $20 – $120 dollars. The Bartlett Inn prefers to cut a less traditional tree: It goes by many a name; Charlie Brown Tree, Stick Tree, Pencil Tree or the real name Fir Balsam.  It is fragrant and grows with larger spaces between branches than trees grown on a tree farm.  It is not as full and bushy as a farm grown tree but it has benefits as the space between branches allows ornaments to be seen and dangle freely and it has an open airy feel.  We made a point to make and buy very light ornaments as the branches are not very thick or stiff.
