Bartlett NH SNOW

Bartlett New Hampshire in the White Mountains on the East side of Crawford Notch and Mt Washington received another 8 inches of snow on the 26-27 January winter storm.  We did a a wintry mix at the end but not enough to affect the 8 inches plus the foot that was under that.  The skiing conditions for Down hill and cross country right now are awesome.  Especially the the local Bartlett NH venues.  Attitash Bear Peak Mountain is located in Bartlett New Hampshire just 2 miles West of the Bartlett Inn & Cottages New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast and Bear Notch Cross Country Ski Network is accessable out the Bartlett Inn’s back door!  Bartlett Inn is jsut 12 miles West of North Conway NH and we have top snow conditions right now.  I know this may seem hard to imagine since I took a ride south to Manchester, New Hampshire this weekend and could not believe they had no snow!  I wanted to let all our Southern New England Firends know ….Yes Virginia,  There is Great Snow and Skiing in Bartlett New Hampshire!! Snowmobile Trails on the Bear Notch Road Network in Bartlett NH are alo excellent! Call 1 800 292 2353 and make a reservation.  Great deals to be had 7 days a week but rock bottom rates midweek (except school break week is 17-25FEB2012 and this is peak!) althought we still have discounted ski tickets!

The whole family went out for the first cross country ski day of the season on Saturday, 14 January, 2012.  The new snow in Bartlett and the chilly temps made for fantastic grooming and skiing!  Packed powder and no ice!   Bear Notch Ski touring Center is dog friendly and has 70 kilometers to ski.  We brought our cockapoo and met other very friendly dogs and skiers on the trails!  The Cockapoo, Noodles, even pulled one of the kids for ski jouring fun! The Waterfalls were part frozen and some of the brooks were still flowing – spectacular views. Snow Day Bartlett NH

We enjoyed fantastic conditions Saturday Cross Country Skiing at Bear Notch Ski Touring in Bartlett NH near Attitash and Bretton Woods. We usually do not get out on Saturday as that is the Bartlett Inn Bed and Breakfast busy day but most of the guests were out early enjoying the great snow conditions at all the local Ski Mountains Attitash , Bretton Woods, Cranmore, Black and Wildcat too and Jackson XC Ski Touring .  We made tracks through the trail behind the inn that is ungroomed (except by us).  It was gorgeous 18 inches of powder.  Our neighbor had tamped down some of the trail with his huge snowshoes so it made that section easier going.  In 10 minutes we were passing the brook and then onto Bear Notch groomed trails. Never crowded, we only saw a few other skiers and most of them were the guests staying at The Bartlett Inn.  It was a perfectday, bright blue skies, immaculately groomed trails..both good for track and skate skiing.  The snow bridge across the river on trail 2 to trail 5 is now open so you can do a nice loop up trail 5 and then past the water tower and down 5 and round back to trail 6 to the Bartlett Inn connector.  This week we plan to go out and do the other side of Bear Notch Road.  We will post pictures. Cross Country Skiing or Nordic skiing is a well kept secret.  If you have not tried it and like downhill skiing and hiking then give it a go.  You will love accessing remote areas, rivers and great views during the winter months and the price is about 1/4 of a downhill lift ticket.  $14 bucks on the weekend and we also offer midweek deals with discount and always free passes to Great Glen trails in Pinkham Notch.
